Another solid performance sees Aire close the gap on league top 4

Aire 38 v Guisborough 15

On the back of 2 good wins Aire went into this game with confidence; however Guisborough's league standing meant that the home team couldn't afford to be complacent. The conditions were good and Aire started well and put some phases together that stretched the away team. Aire's attacking intent was clear from the start with 3 quick fire Sammy Woodley tries taking Aire to a 19-3 lead after only 20 minutes.

Guisborough were in no mood to roll over and a well taken try signalled their attacking threat. Speedster Spencer Wood was employed on the wing and he gladly latched onto a loose ball and weaved his way to the try line for a superb try, which was converted 26-8 to make it Aire.

Although dominant in most facets Aire's penalty count was concerning and this was reinforced when Guiseppe Priestley had a Mama Mia moment and was sin binned for a debatable infringement at the ruck. The decision galvanised Aire who fought for every blade of turf to go in 26-8 up at half time.

There were some tactical changes at half time with Guiseppe slotting in at stand off and combative scrum half Eliot Bunn adding ballast and grit to the back row, Aire had the slight wind and slope in the 2nd half and some smart kicking gave good field position and led to Sammy scoring his 4th under the sticks.

A series of penalties coughed up territory and Guisborough seized on this momentum and scored a well worked and deserved try to make it 38-15 to Aire. Guisborough sniffed a fight back, but that was quickly shut down when centre Harvey Sellers cut a decisive line and dotted down and the game fished 38-15 to Aire,

The score line may suggest an easy victory; however the reality is that Guisborough tested Aire and the score line was flattering to the home side,

There were some really solid performances with Finn Eastcott, Tom Ayrton and Matt Tindale standing out in the forwards. There was also some quality performances in the backs with Eliott Bunn, Sammy Woodley impressing but the MOM goes to Spencer Wood for his efforts in attack and defence.

Aire are away (no surprise) at Malton on Sunday with 12:00 meet for 1pm KO.

Well done lads and we are all very proud how you have responded after a bad run of results !!!!!
