Lions carried on where they left off at Roundhegians last week proving strong opposition for a physical visiting Cleckheaton squad.
There were two games of 20 minutes each.
In the first, Lions dominated defensively. Great tackling performances from Ryan, Miles, Adam and Tobias and super rucking from Billy and Isaac contained the opposition well. Darting runs and good backup play between Alex, James and Isaac provided a steady supply of tries. Aireborough took the first game 7-1 with captain Tobias, James, Billy and Alex all touching down and Isaac claiming a hatrick.
The second game was a much more even affair with both teams battling hard at the breakdown and tackling with great conviction. Johnny scored following another signature powerhouse drive and Billy grabbed a loose ball on half way and made a fantastic run down the wing to touch down in the corner. Ill-discipline started to creep in to both teams but Lions managed to stay on top, only conceding 1 try and edging out Cleckheaton 2-1.
A great team effort from the boys today showing they can really play for each other when the going gets tough.
