Following two solid performances Aire Junior Colts hosted an experienced and predominantly senior Colts Yarnbury outfit. Aire were missing some key personnel, but they still believed they had the players to take the game to Yarnbury.

A peach of a kick off put Aire within 15m of Yarnbury's line. Aire put pressure on the line out and a hurried kick was gobbled up and ran back into the oncoming traffic. A series of carries was repelled by what was proved to be a very organised defence and a turn over gifted the ball to the visitors. Yarnbury identified space out wide and with pace & guile to burn they ran in from 70 metres.

This pattern of play continued, with Aire choosing to take contact rather than looking for players in space. This played into Yarnbury's hands and they competed hard at the breakdown to turn over isolated runners. Yarnbury capitalised on Aire's mistakes and ran in several well executed tries to take a significant lead at the break.With a small squad Injuries didn't help Aire with influential 2nd row Tom Ayrton and flanker Tom Hirst being sideli

The lads were clearly disappointed and frustrated with their performance, but they knew that they had plenty more to offer in the 2nd half.
Aire rallied and despite the score difference they took the game to Yarnbury, who suddenly found themselves on the back foot. Aire were guilty of playing in silo's in the first half, but they began to gain momentum and stress Yarnbury's excellent defence.

A prolonged period of pressure resulted in 3 second half tries, which brought some respectability to the final score. There was no disgrace in this defeat because Aire's opponents are very well coached and organised. Taking into account the age discrepancy Aire put in a pretty good performance,

Hooker Finn Eastcott put in a shift against his former team, Matt Tindale was prominent, but flanker Eddie Farnell was outstanding (again) and was without doubt the MOM.
