Aire suffer as Castleford run in 7 tries

Castleford ran in seven tries away to Aireborough to extend their unbeaten run in Yorkshire Division 3 to five matches.
The visitors dominated from the start and kept up the pressure after Aire pulled one back, restricting the hosts to just the one touchdown in a 48-7 win.

The result denied Aireborough momentum following their first victory last weekend, while Castleford have now won three in a row.
The away side scored inside five minutes, as hooker Jamie Owens squeezed over and, despite their poor start, Aire settled.
Youngster Dan Walker turned the ball over for his side and Jamie Sykes produced an excellent tackle as the hosts began to put pressure on Castleford.

But the Wolfpack were undone when Mark Poppleton ran unopposed to the try-line, before, down the left-hand side again, winger Jordan Rice collected a chipped kick for an easy finish.

Aire could then have scored three tries of their own in what was their best period of the contest. Harley Stevenson-Cocks ran through the Castleford line, but after passing to Walker, the latter's offload was wasteful.

Good scrummage gave Aire their only score as, deep inside the opposing 22, Kris Brook got over in the corner after the ball was spread wide.
Aireborough remained in Castleford territory, but another great chance was wasted when Stu Wilson failed to take the ball in hand.
Egan then notched a penalty kick late on to give Castleford a 22-7 half-time lead.

The away side dominated throughout the second period, adding four further tries and keeping the Wolfpack at bay.
Their first saw a dummied pass open space for Adrian Horwell, who exposed the absence in defence and got over.

Another converted score followed, before Horwell was sent off for foul language following a tackle on Aireborough lock Simon Hill.
But the hosts failed to take advantage of the extra man, and instead conceded two tries. Jacob Crossland touched down after a succession of offloads to make it 41-7, before the final try brought a tough afternoon for Aireborough to an end.

Although not a great day for Aire, the performance of the returning Jonny Hiles was a major highlight. He received this week's Man of the Match award.

Next up for Aireborough is a short away trip to Leeds Mods. See you there.
