Annual Awards Night Thanks & Celebrates Players and Parents!

Friday 6th May 2022 saw Aireborough Juniors celebrate their success together at the Annual Awards Night, at the Clubhouse in Nunroyd Park.

Each and every team within the section were celebrated and huge crowds of players and families gathered at the club to give each team a rousing cheer!

Chairman Andy Wood opened the evening thanking all of the players, parents and coaches for their continued efforts and reiterated the message he had given at the Section's AGM that this year has seen record numbers of registered players representing the club each week.

Following his award for participation in the Micros, Finley, aged 6, said "This is great! I never knew we got trophies for playing rugby with my friends!"

Players from the Micros (Under 5's & 6's combined) up to the Under 11's/12's all received participation awards as well as their being some other trophies up for grabs. In the age groups from Under 13's to Under 16's, four awards were given out for each team. The awards handed out to individual players were as follows:

  • Player's Player of the Year
  • Coaches Player of the Year
  • Most Improved Player of the Year
  • The Spirit of Rugby Award

The Spirit of Rugby Award was new to the line-up this year. Vice Chairman, Kris Brook, described what this award is all about. "This award was for the player in each team that embodied the spirit of the game. They always turn up, give it their all and uphold the 5 core values of rugby: Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship. We're really proud to introduce this award across our teams, and of those players who have been awarded this accolade tonight!"

Chair Andy Wood added "Congratulations to each and every player that has played for Aireborough RUFC in 2021/22. Enjoy the off-season and we look forward to seeing you back at the club soon as we get ready for the next season!"
