Starting well Aire provided pressure from the opening minute and with only three minutes on the clock Luke Exley crashed over the opposition line for a fine try, converted by Nick Holdsworth. Hemsworth rose to the occasion and opened their account with a penalty goal. At this stage with Hemsworth trying hard Aire decided to press the self- destruct button and a converted interception try gave them a slight lead. Bad tackling allowed a converted try four minutes later and from the restart the opposition were allowed to run through untouched to score yet another converted try. Aire looked to be falling apart but to their credit they worked their way back into the game and narrowed the gap when back-rower Jonny Mackey drove over from the base of the scrum for Nick Holdsworth to convert. Further pressure produced a Holdsworth penalty just before the interval and Aire went in at half-time with a 17-24 deficit.
Aire applied the pressure from the start and from a scrum near the Hemsworth line scrum-half Ollie Catherall shot from behind the pack and used his weight to crash over the opposition line. Camping in the opposition half Aire once again applied the pressure and young James Exley crossed the opposition line. Aire had now taken the lead and were trying to consolidate their position. Jonny Mackey made a break from within his own half and passed to Ollie Catherall who produced a well weighted kick for full back Mark Druce to score, converted by Holdsworth. Minutes later Mackey and Catherall once again combined well to send winger Gareth Poole away, Catherall backing up to take the inside pass and score. Aire continued their scoring when a quick tap at a penalty produced a try for Luke Exley, converted by Holdsworth.
Aire travel to Leeds Medics and Dentists in the league next Saturday.
